I like singing because...

Men and women can do it together.

It's the one instrument I can play in the bathroom.

I am again in the place where we live our questions.

The young librarian behind the counter stopped a young couple as they walked into the door.

"Excuse me...did you see a girl outside in a blue sweater?"
(They hadn't)
"Oh. Because she came in here and handed me a piece of paper and said her friend was interested in me. I need to tell her I'm not actually interested in girls right now. Yeah, I'm like actually interested in boys. I was badly burned by my ex-girlfriend a long time ago, so now I'm interested in boys. I think she needs to know that."

Some things you never expect to hear in a small town library...

Life without a phone at one's disposal is a definate inconvenience.
I've noticed that I have a dreadful habit of not posting anything on this blog for the longest time, and then suddenly overwhelm it with a miriad of posts in one day. Why I do this I do not know.
The latest original response to my name...

"And you are....?"
"Solomon. And what was your name?"
"Odessa."
"Hmmm...Odessa. Strange name for a white girl."

Our campus is over run with the largest freshmen class Lee has ever had. And over 160 of them are in our music building. For the first time in my college career I'm experiencing freshmen's awed expressions when they ask me what year I am and I tell them I'm a junior. It's the 'wow-someone-who's-arrived-and-they're-so-cool' look. Every time you see them after that they wave wildly and ask you where their next class is. They are so blissfully ingnorant...
"We can rock, roll, and Mozart."
